Sales Jobs


The main function of a sales-professional is to bring new customers to a company by interacting with them and creating relationships. He/she shows and sells services/products to particular markets.
A sales professional has to keep a database of customers which he/she will regularly contact either by phone or by email. He/she has to make new contacts/customers as well as to identify new markets and potential customers.
Sales professionals also need to be able to give customers accurate sales quotations and to fix calculations while interacting with their customers. He/she needs to keep up-to-date with market trends and all of his/her information on customers, and to represent his/her company at events and fairs. He/she also needs to negotiate with both, customers and the company´s management about prices and deliveries, it is also important for sales professionals to keep up-to-date with order status and sales info.

The main skills a sales person should have are:
  • - Communication skills
  • - Interpersonal skills
  • - Teamwork skills
  • - Charisma
  • - Self-driven and competitive personal characteristics.
Some educational requirements are bachelor's degrees in Commerce focused on either sales or accounting, though professionals with a BBA or MBA degree with a specialization in either marketing or sales.
There are two types of sales jobs: Direct and Indirect, Indirect sales professional are basically Sales distributors, while some direct sales jobs are:
  • - Sales representative
  • - Sales Executive
  • - Medium Value Sales Person
  • - High Value Sales Person
  • - Technical Sales Person
  • - Sales Engineer
  • - Service Sales Person
  • - Some Indirect
